The heir to the unique System, it is the second console in the System series. The System 360 plays with Sony's PlayStation 3 and The Wii as part of the 7th creation of nintendo wii. The System 360 was formally revealed on MTV on May 12, 2005, with detailed launch and activity information divulged later that month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).

As is typical of seventh-generation games consoles, the System 360 functions an on the internet support, System Stay, which was extended from its previous version on the unique System and has received regular updates throughout the console's life-time. The support is available in free and subscription-based varieties. Moreover to offering on the internet, the support allows customers to: download games (through System Stay Arcade) and activity demos; purchase and flow songs, television programs, and films through the System Music and System Movie portals; and access third-party content services through press streaming applications. Moreover to on the internet multi-media functions, the System 360 allows customers to flow press from local PCs. Several peripheral devices have been launched, such as wireless remotes, extended hard disk storage, and the Kinect motion detecting camera.

Launched globally across 2005–2006, the System 360 was initially scarce in many regions, such as North America and Europe. The earliest versions of the console suffered from a high failure rate, indicated by the so-called "Red Ring of Death", requiring an extension of the unit's warranty period. Microsof company launched two remodeled models of the console: the System 360 S in 2010, and the System 360 E in 2013. As of Oct 2013, 80 million System 360 games consoles have been sold globally, making it the seventh-highest-selling games system in history.[16] Although not the best-selling console of its creation, the System 360 was deemed by TechRadar to be the most significant through its emphasis on digital press submission and multi-player game playing on System Stay. During the console's life-time, the System brand has grown from gaming-only to encompassing all multi-media, turning it into a hub for "living-room processing environment". The System 360's heir, the System One, was published on Nov 22, 2013.[
